Housed in what was once the house of the Count of Ayamans, the museum
displays collections of Archaeology,
Fine Art and Decorative Art, as well
as a magnificent collection of Gothic
retables belonging to the Luliana
Archaeological Society.
Opening hours:
Tuesday to Saturday: 10.00-19.00.
Sundays: 10.00-14.00.
Mondays and public holidays closed.

FUNDACIÓ PILAR I JOAN MIRÓ

The Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró
has a permanent exhibition of the
Miró collection and temporary exhibitions
of other artists’ work. It
consists of several buildings housing
the galleries, studios, a library,
document centre… The premises
of the Foundation are the result
of a design by the architect Rafael
Moneo in 1992. Although Catalan,
Joan Miró always had close
ties with the island, finally settling
down in Cala Major in 1956. The
Foundation, established in 1981,
is one outcome of these links.
Today, the Foundation is also a
dynamic cultural centre where
cultural activities of every description
are organised for young and
old.

MUSEU DIOCESÀ

Temporarily housed in St Peter’s
Chapel, in the ‘Casa de la Iglesia’
– the old seminary. Displays of
works of art from the cathedral
and churches and monasteries
of Majorca: Gothic, Renaissance
and Baroque paintings
and sculpture; silver and decorative
art.

CASA MUSEU J. TORRENS
LLADÓ
Address: Carrer de la Portella, 9
This gallery was opened in 2002
and exhibits both the house of
the painter J. Torrents Lladó, as
it was when he lived there, and
over 100 of his paintings. There
are also temporary exhibition
rooms.

This part of the building, which
was previously joined to number
2 of the same street, conserves
many Modernist details that are
to be seen in the decoration of the
courtyard and the stairway, which
is the part of the original 17th century
courtyard that has been most
subject to change. At present the
house can be visited as a museum.

MUSEU DE LA SEU
Address: Plaça de l’Almoina
The museum is in the ground floor
of the bell tower of the Cathedral
(13th – 14th century) and both
the chapterhouses: the Gothic
14th century one and the Baroque
18th century chapterhouse. It has
a collection of Gothic sculpture,
painting and silver, and Baroque
sculpture and silver.

MUSEU DE LA CIUTAT (CASTELL DE BELLVER)

This museum is inside Bellver castle
and shows the visitor Palma’s history
and how the city evolved from
the Bronze Age to the present day.

MUSEU MILITAR DE SANT CARLES
Address: Dic de l’Oest. Porto Pi
The defense tower of the harbor of Porto Pi, castle of Sant Carles, was constructed in the 18th Century. Inaugurated in 1981, the museum shelters a collection of war pieces and military weapons from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. It includes five exhibition rooms of old weapons.
