Palma is the commercial, cultural and financial centre of Majorca, with a depth of history. A cosmopolitan city and a favourite with the jet set, with countless celebrities own properties on the island.
Palma, the capital of Majorca, which is famous for its beaches and beautiful sea also has a beautiful historic quarter. The cathedral, the Palace of Almudaina and the Plaza Mayor are just some of the places you will need to see on a visit to Palma. The varied landscape of the island adds to its grace, with coves, magnificent beaches and cliffs. Inland you can experience typical Majorcan towns, as well as mountains towering to over 1,500 metres. A beautiful, diverse landscape, as well as a rich cultural life, are most inviting to a journey through every last inch of Majorca.
The city of Palma is at the centre of the huge Bay of Palma and has fantastic sights to take in, not least the magnificent Cathedral. There is a sandy beach which starts to the east of the city. The promenade along Palma’s seafront stretches from the harbour in the west, where you can gaze at some of the most expensive yachts in the world, to the east where you can enjoy the city’s sandy beach. The promenade continues to the east away from Palma where you will experience small harbours, cafés and bars and some excellent restaurants. The promenade stretches a total of 20km and includes a cycle path which is well used by cyclists and rollerbladers.
Nightlife here is vibrant, with a good selection of clubs, restaurants and lively bars. Throughout the year there is also a full programme of concerts, exhibitions, and theatre productions. There are many local activities including numerous 18 hole golf courses, mini golf, go karting, water parks, ten-pin bowling, cycling, climbing, all types of water sports, scuba diving, boat tours etc. In fact it is difficult to find activities that are not enjoyed on the island.
